The deposition of King James VII by his nephew and son in law, William of Orange, brought about significant changes in England, Scotland, and Ireland, including permanently ending any chance of Catholicism becoming reestablished in England. Many Catholic rights were denied, leading to rebellions and uprisings by Highland clans who called themselves Jacobites in support of the exiled James Stuart. For their part in many of these bloody uprisings, King William reestablished the proscription on clan MacGregor, making them outlaws once again.
As the eighteenth century heralds in with a new queen and a treaty that will unite the three kingdoms into Great Britain, the MacGregors of Skye live hidden from their enemies, nestled within the mountains surrounding Camlochlin. They are still proud, still fierce, emerging from the mists to strike when honor and duty to Scotland call. With the blood of the legendary laird of the mist flowing through their veins, Callum MacGregor’s grandchildren are no less troublesome and terrifying than the warriors who came before them. Most of the time they prefer to battle neighboring clansmen and an occasional fleet of privateers rather than ride all the way to England to kick the arses of men who wear wigs. There are, however, those more audacious sons who have been known to ride hard through the glens and straight into Edinburgh's private balls or tawdry brothels to strike at their enemies while their noble heads are absent of wig, and their arses of hose. Defiant plaids swinging about their brawny knees, they declare their names and make their points at the end of a Claymore.
Still, some would argue that the daughters are worse.
But whether they battle on the field, on the sea, or in the bedchamber, they live and love with the unbridled, untamable passion that belongs only to Highland heirs.
Come along for the journey, dear reader, and lose yourself in an age of adventure, danger, and love that conquer anything.
